Blue Marlin party with Richie Hawtin

Richie Hawtin has announced plans for his next Ibiza date at one of Ibiza’s most famous luxury beach clubs.

After hosting his own ‘Enter’ night at Space for the past few years, this year the techno legend has stripped back his Ibiza appearances. He returns to Cocoon for two of those dates and will play a third on August 3 at Blue Marlin.

The date will tie in with his Enter.Sake spin off brand. The Sake offshoot will also take over Ibiza restaurant Corichancha for an annual dinner with special Japanese-style tasting menus which infuse Sake with local Spanish cuisine.

Hawtin fans will no doubt feel neglected, but is this another sign of the island placing more of an emphasis on VIP club culture? The closure of Space spelled the end for both Carl Cox’s long running party as well as Hawtin‘s weekly ‘Enter’ party, two of the island’s biggest club brands, and signaled the beginning of an even tougher time for the island’s promoters. This season industry people on the island have complained of the ever increasing competition for clubbers as the VIP culture on the island is increasingly pricing out average fans while clubs focus on targeting bigger spend clients.
