Spotify announced tests of a new auto-mixing function

Spotify may be in the early stages of developing a new auto-mixing feature.

First reported by Music Ally, an early test of this curious and new capability appears on the public Spotify playlist “Drum & Bass Fix”. When navigating to the playlist and playing a song all the way through, the last few seconds of the song seamlessly transitions into the next track – even when shuffle is turned on.

Currently, the playlist appears to be the first and only to have this function appear on the platform. Details regarding the new software feature have yet to be revealed and when asked about the mixing function, a Spotify spokesman responded with the following: “We are always testing new products and experiences, but have no further news to share at this time.” Spotify is being sued by $1.6 billion over copyright infringement. The lawsuit accuses the Swedish streaming giant of using songs found in Wixen’s extensive catalog without the necessary licenses.
