Melbourne Artist To Work With Eno
Melbourne-born composer, producer and musician Ben Frost will live every experimental artist’s wet dream when he’s paired up with Brian Eno as part of a prestigious international program.
Frost, 30, who moved to Iceland five years ago (there’s probably a joke in there somewhere), has been named as one of six proteges of the Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative. He will spend the next year being mentored by Eno in an individually tailored program that provides “unique personal access” and “a creative dialogue” with the iconic producer and musician. In addition, Frost receives a grant of US$25,000, and is also eligible for a further $25,000 towards the cost of creating a project following his mentoring year.
Frost was selected for the program – along with five other artists working in dance, film, literature, theatre and visual arts – by an advisory board based at Rolex headquarters in Geneva. The initiative was founded in 2002.
Frost’s most recent albums, By the Throat and Theory of Machines, were released locally through Stomp/Bedroom Community.
