Goda Brother - Lost In Nubian
On Lost In Nubian, that becomes most obvious through his words. "Nubian" has a deconstructed boom-bap beat of Neubauten-style kicks and a burst of static with the one-word plea. It ends with a lilt to the phrase, which forms the title of the EP. The original of Goda Brother reconfigures the elements over a pulsing, esque rhythm of white noise. Both remixes of Findike and Chandrama find a balance in tension and calm and uses field recordings over the ominous sound of a jet flying overhead, as well as crackles and manipulated nature sounds. The other one has an electronic heartbeat underpinning violin cut-ups and a trickle of water.
At the close of a Fabio Orru remix, such warnings and appeals in underground scenes feel even more necessary. Whether it's the timeliness, gentle abstraction or
something else it feels more like solace than rebuke.
